NARAL-BlueO Petition gets ink

Sometimes, being a blogger comes jam packed with extra-juicy deliciousness. Like when the petition on which you partner with NARAL Pro-Choice Oregon highlights the extremist positions of the Republican front runner for Governor.

Jeff Mapes, The Oregonian

NARAL Pro-Choice Oregon isn't waiting for the campaign season to dump on Rep. Dennis Richardson, the Central Point Republican who recently launched his campaign for governor.

The abortion rights group on Wednesday sent out an email to some 10,000 people on its mailing list in Oregon calling him the "worst of the worst" while bringing up some of his most controversial votes on such issues as abortion, birth control and sex education.

Sure, Mapes never bothers to mention the BlueOregon Action role, but whatever. The important point is that all of Oregon (not just the NARAL & BlueO audiences) get to read that Richardson is keen to put the government between women and their doctors, even going so far as to vote for abstinence-only sex education in Oregon's schools.

And now for the irony portion of your business day, I give you Oregon Right To Life (ORTL) Executive Director, Gayle Atteberry:

Gayle Atteberry, executive director of Oregon Right to Life, said her group has endorsed Richardson in the past and could well do so in this race. But she sought to downplay the impact of abortion politics on the governor's race.

"If they want to harp on one issue, of course they will," Atteberry said of Oregon NARAL. "But [Richardson's] about more than one issue."

Because really, ORTL isn't an a one-issue organization.

Oh... wait.
