Wheeler seeks political transparency from public companies

Portland Business Journal:

Oregon’s state treasurer has called for more transparency on corporate political spending.

Ted Wheeler on Thursday said new rules would make companies more accountable to their shareholders. Wheeler sent a letter to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission calling for regulations that would require publicly traded corporations to regularly report their political activity.

Wheeler’s department works with the Oregon Public Employees Retirement Fund and Oregon Common School Fund, which have stakes in public companies...
