The skills and experiences gained through Outdoor School instill self-confidence, help youth realize their leadership potential and make them more self-sufficient. Outdoor School makes science more relevant and fun through hands-on activities that show children how their lessons in school apply to the world around them.
Studies show that across cultural and economic differences, students participating in outdoor education programs demonstrated less aggression, better moods, impulse control, and better cognitive functioning and social skills even long after they returned to school.
Outdoor School fosters a lifelong appreciation for Oregon’s unique heritage, and teaches our youth about the role and responsibility of every Oregonian to be a steward.
The thousands of names generated by this petition will be delivered to Oregon state lawmakers urging their support to fund Outdoor School.

Dear Oregon Legislator,
Outdoor School advances all our educational goals and develops leadership, collaborative skills, and an interest in learning. It brings together kids from all walks of life and all parts of the state. Outdoor School gives our children the opportunity to step away from video games and computers and get outside to experience Oregon's natural resources firsthand.
We urge you to support full funding for Outdoor School by supporting HB 2648 and SB 439 so that all children in Oregon have this important learning opportunity.
