BlueOregon Privacy Policy and Terms of Service

Here at BlueOregon, we're building a community. Any community is built on trust, and trust is based on authentic identity, transparency, and respect for varied opinions.

Privacy Policy

BlueOregon is committed to respecting and protecting your privacy and the information you share with us.

Use of Information

Use of Information

We use information collected from you for four general purposes: to personalize your online experience when using this web site, to send you personalized correspondence, to fulfill your requests for certain information, and to process any data you send to us.

When you sign one of our petitions, pledges, or other endorsement-type forms, we treat your name, city, state, and any comments as public information. We may, for example, disclose this information to public officials, the press, and/or the general public. In accordance with our general policy, we may also use the information that you provide to contact you for other purposes or to solicit contributions. We may share your email address and other contact information with other organizations that share similar goals and objectives, and they may contact or solicit you. By signing a petition or pledge sponsored by multiple organizations, you are opting in to and may receive emails from one or more of the sponsors of the petition or pledge. (You may, of course, unsubscribe at any time.)

Facebook Authentication

Here at BlueOregon, we use Facebook to authenticate the identity of people who wish to comment on our site. When you authorize the BlueOregon Facebook app, we verify that your account is more than two weeks old and has more than 10 friends. If you post a comment on BlueOregon, your name and profile photo will be shared by Facebook and displayed on our site. The interaction between Facebook and BlueOregon is entirely for authentication and display of identity. When posting a comment, you may also choose to share it on your Facebook Timeline as a status update.

If you choose not to authenticate via Facebook, you may continue to read BlueOregon, but you will not be able to comment on BlueOregon.

Generally, we collect any information that you provide to us through online registrations and correspondence. Some online activities on our web site offer you the opportunity to post information on our site for the public. Naturally, the information you choose to share with the public is not private.

Cookies: We may also use cookies to collect information about your use of the website. You may adjust your Internet browser to disable the use of cookies; however, some features of this web site may not be available without the use of cookies.

An IP address is a 32-bit number that identifies each sender or receiver of information and is sent in packets across the Internet. IP addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information. In addition, our log files track which pages you visit, from which page you came to our site, and what software you use to visit our site.

Distribution of Information

We do not disclose any personal information collected from you other than to our agents and contractors for management purposes. In general, however, we may disclose information concerning our web site and its users in aggregate, non-personally identifiable form.
