Kitzhaber taps Rob Saxton for top schools post

Gov. John Kitzhaber has tapped Rob Saxton as Oregon's deputy superintendent of public instruction, one of the top jobs in Oregon's newly reformed public education system.

Saxton and Rudy Crew, the state's new chief education officer, will be charged with implementing reform efforts led by Gov. John Kitzhaber designed to streamline education and meet the state's goals of 40 percent of Oregonians earning high school diplomas, 40 percent earning bachelor's degrees and 20 percent earning advanced degrees.
