Lawyer named as HD 26 nominee

Statesman-Journal:

John Davis, a 29-year-old lawyer, was named by Republicans as the replacement nominee for the House District 26 seat being vacated by Rep. Matt Wingard, R-Wilsonville. Davis won on the first round in a weighted vote of precinct committee members. Others who sought the nomination were Lindsay Berschauer, a policy analyst; Randy Harvey, a lawyer and retired school administrator, and Richard Vial, a lawyer. Davis will face Democrat Wynne Wakkila of Tigard in the Nov. 6 general election. Wingard resigned June 13 as deputy Republican leader in the evenly split House, and then announced June 19 he would not seek a third term, after a June 13 news account about his relationship with a former aide who alleged sexual misconduct on his part. No charges were filed after an investigation was conducted by the Clackamas County sheriff and the Oregon Department of Justice. — Peter Wong
