Portland Streetcar makes east side debut

Portland Streetcar Inc. launches its latest extension with a ribbon-cutting event and free service this weekend.

The Central Loop, which runs from Downtown and the Pearl District to the Central Eastside by way of the Broadway Bridge, begins service at 7:30 a.m. Saturday. It will pause at 10 a.m. for a ribbon cutting and speeches by Portland Mayor Sam Adams, Rep. Earl Blumenauer and other dignitaries at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry, 1945 S.E. Water Ave.

Rides will be free all weekend.
