Fritz beats Nolan for Portland council seat

Incumbent Amanda Fritz has defeated Mary Nolan for a seat on the Portland City Council.

Fritz was leading by a 57-42 percent margin in early returns shortly after 8 p.m. and was declared the winner by the Oregonian newspaper.

Fritz won despite being outspent more than 5-1.
