Biz Summit: Wyden, Merkley reach out to rural interests

Oregon's two U.S. senators told rural business executives that the state's federal delegation is forging partnerships with similarly minded interests in other U.S. regions.

Doing so, said Sen. Ron Wyden during Monday's Oregon Leadership Summit, will help generate more support for Oregon-specific programs, such as the timber payments that forest-dependent counties receive to mitigate financial losses that result from federal-logging restrictions.
