Kitzhaber proposes Dept. of Post-Secondary Education

Gov. John Kitzhaber will soon unveil his latest proposal to streamline the state's education system.

Kitzhaber wants to erase several state agencies and create a Department of Post-Secondary Education to oversee community colleges, the state's seven public universities and financial aid.

The Governor and legislative leaders have been working for several years to restructure the system to make it more efficient in hopes of meeting the state's ambitious 40-40-20 goals.
