City Commissioner Dan Saltzman sits on a taxpayer-funded panel that gave $600,000 to his girlfriend’s employer, Cares Northwest, last year.
The Portland Children’s Levy, approved by voters in 2002 and re-approved in 2008, gives money to after-school programs and other providers of children services. Liz Burns, who was introduced as the commissioner’s girlfriend at a Portland City Club debate earlier this month, is development specialist for Cares, which helps abused children.
