Gov. Kitzhaber shines a spotlight on higher education victories
The state's overhaul of the education system hit another milestone on Tuesday when Gov. John Kitzhaber signed two bills passed by lawmakers in this year's legislative session.
One of the bills asks state officials to study the feasibility of providing free community college classes to Oregon high school graduates. The other sets aside $750,000 to help more low-income and first-generation students attend community college.
