What do the Koch Brothers and Karl Rove’s political operation “Crossroads GPS” have in common? They don’t disclose the names of the big-money donors who contribute to their attack-ad machines. Unbelievable, right?  The issue isn’t new, but it’s tremendously important. Ever since the Supreme Court handed down their misguided Citizens United decision, corporate spending has poured into elections across the country.  And Congress has failed to act. In the face of inaction by Congress, what can be done?  The answer is simple: The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) – a key regulator on Wall Street – could require all public corporations to disclose how much they’re spending on politics.  After all, shareholders deserve to know how their money is being spent.  And it would not require an Act of Congress. To date, the SEC has failed to act.   That’s why I’ve called on the SEC to issue rules right now to require corporations to reveal how they’re influencing elections.  Shareholders and voters deserve to know.   Sign my petition today and tell the SEC to issue new campaign finance rules right away. http://www.jeffmerkley.com/...
