Trader Joe's rejects Mayor Hales' plea to reconsider controversial MLK site
Portland Mayor Charlie Hales said Tuesday that Trader Joe’s won’t set up shop on the Northeast Portland site it had hoped to occupy before protests chased the grocery chain away earlier this year.
Hales said a Trader Joe’s official told Hales on Friday the Monrovia, Calif.-based chain wouldn’t return to the proposed project.
