Former Hillsboro Mayor Gordon Faber dies at 83

The man who oversaw Hillsboro's growth into a major tech company locale has died.

The Oregonian reported Friday afternoon that Gordon Faber passed away at the age of 83 on Monday.

Faber was mayor of Hillsboro between 1993 and 2001. As the Oregonian noted, the city grew from 40,000 to 72,630 during those years.

Among the companies to grow during that period was Intel, which entered the 2000s well above the 10,000-employee mark.
