Oregon's minimum wage rises by a smidge. Is it enough?
Oregon’s minimum wage, already the second-highest among all states, is getting set to rise by a fraction.
Oregon Labor and Industries Commissioner Brad Avakian today announced that Oregon’s minimum wage will increase to $9.25 on Jan. 1. That’s a 15-cent rise, meaning Oregon will still trail only Washington ($9.32) in terms of statewide minimum wage rates.
Avakian said the rate would apply to 141,822 workers, or 8 percent of Oregon’s workforce. The move helps keep up with the cost-of-living.
