State Sen. Elizabeth Steiner Hayward may have backed off her tough vaccine bill, but she's not giving up the fight to boost immunization rates in Oregon.

Steiner Hayward, a Beaverton Democrat and family physician, is crafting new legislation that will allow parents to obtain non-medical exemptions from vaccines but will make them a bit harder to obtain. SB 442, her original bill eliminating those exemption altogether, will be withdrawn.
