Portland unveils details of Uber/Lyft (and taxi) pilot program
Portland officials have finalized details of the 120-day pilot program that will test the mettle of such transportation network companies as Uber and Lyft.
Mayor Charlie Hales and Commissioner Steve Novick said the program will "modernize for-hire transportation" including services offered by taxis. Portland's Private for Hire Innovation Task Force had recommended the city change its for-hire transportation rules to, among other things, provide more taxi licenses.
