Oregon schools: Student health must be crucial piece in reform

Mel Rader: Gov. John Kitzhaber has proposed creating "compacts" with school districts, clear agreements about how they will raise graduation rates. Establishing health outcomes as one focus of the compacts would encourage districts to incorporate health into their strategy, measure how focusing on health affects graduation rates, and establish best practices for other schools to follow.
