Teachers back Smith for Portland mayor

Portland’s teachers have given Jefferson Smith their mayoral OK.

The Portland Association of Teachers’ political committee, called Teachers Voice in Politics, has endorsed the East Portland state representative after interviewing him and five other candidates.

The group represents 4,000 Portland-area members.
