Subjects to debate: Portland candidates take their shots
Portland mayoral candidates Eileen Brady, Charlie Hales and Jefferson Smith jabbed, poked and prodded each during a Wednesday debate that was at times testy and entertaining.
The debate, at a Portland Business Journal Power Breakfast, drew 350 attendees. The candidates debated such issues as whether politicians who promise better permitting systems can genuinely do so, whether older-line development strategies can still work and the degree to which experience trumps potential.
