Trail heads: An hour with Portland mayor hopefuls

In my 14 years as a Portland business reporter, I’ve not seen a more intriguing race than this year’s Portland mayoral primary.

Several times a day, someone asks me to handicap the race. I can’t. Most reporters might see that as a blow to their pundit credibility. Even if I did have that, I prefer to view it as testament to a too-close-to-call battle among three evenly matched politicos.
