Quote of the Week

Jack Bogdanski

i feel about george w. bush the exact same way that i feel about sammy hagar in van halen:

i realize some of you fucking frat boys just need someone to nod your head to, but this isnt even good.

know that every time you tell me that george bush deserves four more years running this country, all i hear is "sammy hagar deserves to make four more records with van halen."

Funny stuff, Jack! We certainly need humor as we head into the Reptilian National Convention.

Totally OT, but as you good folks are standing here at the BlueOregon water cooler chatting and speechifying on the important topics of the day, I hope you'll also please take a look at the overstuffed bulletin board of things to do at: www.DemocracyforOregon.com.

There you'll find all kinds of progressive activities and events to engage in, petitions to sign, stuff to read and plenty of news to pass around. Every water cooler needs a bulletin board, so we Oregonians from the former amazing Dean machine invite you to come over and join us for some daily or weekly rabble rousing.

Cheers, Ginny Ross (Proudly a former Jack B. tax student, still practicing tax law after all these years!)

"(2004-08-26) -- President George Bush today announced a major strategy shift in his re-election campaign brought on by what he described as "the failure of my nominal opponent to present a single reason voters should support him."

The Bush-Cheney campaign will now simply ignore John Forbes Kerry, the Democrat candidate and Vietnam veteran who is also a U.S. Senator.

"It's hard to mount an entire campaign against an opponent who has no record, no bedrock values, no consistent positions, no new ideas and only wants to talk about something he hasn't done for 35 years," said Mr. Bush. "So far, the fight has been between me and anti-me...Bush against hate-Bush. From now on, we're looking at a one-man race for the presidency."

    Brett,

    What's your point? Just curious.

Oh and what about the rest:

"Campaign insiders said TV and radio ads will no longer mention the Democrat candidate, but will simply focus on the president's record and his vision for the future.

"I can't change people whose hearts overflow with hatred," said the president. "So I'll just focus on rallying those whose minds are still open. We're going to target what you call your sentient beings."

Perhaps you are just trying to make us laugh? Though IMO the Sammy Hagar quote is much funnier.

Every time Bush opens his mouth I feel like I'm living in Orwell's 1984. Bush/Cheney = doubleplusungood.

A friend sent me this story from Salon.

"Let's turn a corner, any corner" By Joyce McGreevy

"I'm George Bush, and I'm reporting for -- I'm making a report. When you make a report it is a reported entity. I ascended this country as a young man, and I will suspend it as president. (Applause.)"

So is the story I posted. No point to it, really, other than Pierce's comment encapsulates what I see as the unthinking kneejerk hatred of Bush for no reason at all.

So does that mean Kerry is David Lee Roth?

  • (Show?)

Yes, how could anyone hate W? He's done such a great job. America feels so good about itself right now. What a genius.

Yeah, that's exactly what I meant. Thanks for spelling it out for me.

Leave it to an R such as Brett to lack the intelligence to understand sarcasm. We'll all have to be a little more simple for the likes of folks like Brett. Therefore, here is the basic fact. Bush is a criminally negligent, mendacious, incompetent puppet of an oligarchy who can not put a simple sentence together let alone serve as leader of the free world. He deserves 4 more years in office as much as criminal scum like owners of Enron, Halliburton, Betchtel & Worldcom deserve to ruin our economy and write our laws. Is that simple enough for you, Brett?

  • (Show?)

Just because someone disagrees with you doesn't mean they're stupid.

So far, Brett's comments have been intelligent and well-reasoned - even if occasionally misguided and wrong.
