Katherine Harris aide comes to Oregon. Seriously.

Rori SmithQuite a few folks have pooh-poohed the Oregon GOP's plan to intimidate voters in Multnomah County. Funny thing is, there's just one more "coincidence" that makes their plans clear:

The brand-new communications director for the Oregon GOP, parachuted in to explain their plans, is a political operative named Rori Smith.

That's right, the very same Rori Smith who worked for Katherine Harris - the onetime Florida Secretary of State.

Contact Rori Smith at the Oregon GOP and ask her to reject the party's plan. Her office phone is 541-944-8779 and her email is [email protected].

Some background:

OK just her picture alone intimidates me.

I'm sorry, that wasn't very nice. I just couldn't resist. lol.

  • (Show?)

I'm sure she's a lovely person, and I'll take this moment to invite her to lunch. So, if you're listening, Rori, just drop a line.

Of course, she's also shilling for a truly dastardly plan. If they're really concerned about voter fraud, they should be doing their videotaping in every county in Oregon, not just Multnomah.

Of course there's no Democrats committing voter intimidation.... Oh wait there is:

And what do they use? ROCKS and PIES

But of course, that's not a problem because their targets are republicans, right? And it was just a pie, for gosh sakes. And probably little rocks... it's not the same as those damn republicans who are evil, evil, EVIL people.

  • (Show?)

If someone is caught and convicted of throwing that rock then we'll know who threw it.

I'd go back to the question, "Who benefits?"

That hole made a nice picture in today's paper, didn't it? And it's already being used here to take the focus off Republican efforts to suppress the vote.

Is there a single Republican worker who will be intimidated by a rock through the window in the middle of the night? Is the cost of replacing the window anything close to the value of the publicity received?

I'd put anarchists, vandals and Republicans on the suspect list ahead of Democrats.

No surprise that those guys would bring someone like her in. However, Oregon has a left-leaning Supreme Court, a Democrat political activist Secretary of State, a Democrat political activist Attorney General, and a Democrat Governor, as well as several powerful liberal grassroots organizations, not the least of which is headed up by Tim Nesbitt. These guys nearly always get what they want. So I wouldn't panic yet, just keep your eyes open and leave no hunch unexplored with these people.

    "Democrat political activist Attorney General"

Where the hell did that come from? Back your words with evidence.

Why would you wonderful Oregonians who claim to be concerned about all people be so mean about Ms. Rori Smith. She looks like a wonderful, happy person.

Why would you wonderful Oregonians who claim to be concerned about all people be so mean about Ms. Rori Smith. She looks like a wonderful, happy person. Also, why did my comment be kept off until it could be approved?

Bobby, I don't think anyone here is being mean to Ms. Smith. And even if I've never met her, I'm sure she is a "wonderful, happy person" as you say. But the company she keeps has a track record that inspires law abiding Oregonians to keep an eye on the former aide for Ms. Harris.

  • (Show?)

Also, why did my comment be kept off until it could be approved? Not sure what you're talking about. We don't approve comments here; everything goes up instantly.

  • (Show?)

Kari, based on the logic of this "coincidence," what can we assume about you based on your former boss at L&C?

Seriously, I usually think that leaving the staffers alone is a good thing, but to hell with it, they'd use a staffer against us if they had any chance.

  • (Show?)

JES, picking on staffers is not the point. The point is that the Oregon GOP specifically brought in someone with the right kind of experience on this stuff. What are they planning?

  • (Show?)

Yeah, I got the point. I am not worried about them for bringing her in, I am worried about them for a whole bunch of other reasons.... As much as I'd like it to be different (for purely selfish reasons), staff are fair game, especially in situations like these. I am surprised, in fact, this issue didn't get a little more play in the "real" media.
