Listening to the Blogosphere

Just in case there was any question as to whether the media is listening in on all the blogoliciousness going on, there's now this item in today's Oregonian:

Getting blogged down in a heated argument

City Commissioner Randy Leonard, the fiery former union leader, likes a hearty political debate. Leonard is known to sit at his computer late into the night posting long missives on local blogs. One back-and-forth last week caught our attention.

The rest of it is about the particular argument on Jack Bogdanski's excellent blog, bojack.org, between Randy Leonard and Frank Dufay.

Incidentally, Jack and Randy are regular contributors here at BlueOregon - and Frank often pops up in the comments.

Maybe a bit later I can catch up with the midnight-oil blogfesting, howsomever, speaking of today's e-dishin' ... is it just me or --

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Anonymity is by far the easier route in cyberia. The fact that Leonard (and others) engage in this medium with the degree of transparency that they do -- is a testament to their courage and dedication to the ideals of democratic dialogue and input.

It's easy to talk the talk -- much harder to walk the walk.

It's only too bad that while the article certainly serves as media's confession that they are (at least) 'listening' to the blogging medium -- they fail to acknowledge -- (or hear)-- the very real merit it has and how the exchange 'exposed' in the article exemplifies it.
