Boo! Who's the scariest Senator?

It's Halloween today, and the DSCC accordingly has an online poll asking which of 6 incumbent GOP Senators is the scariest. Guess who makes the list?

Vote for the scariest Senator over at the DSCC, and show them just how terrifying Gordon Smith is.

Sorry, but I had to go with Mitch "The Penguin" McConnell. True Evil has an awe-inspiring, look-death-in-the-cold-black-eyes quality, and O'l Gordon is just too bland and mundane to deserve even that much respect.

In a fascist authoritarian state, he would not be a high status Big Bad; he would be one of the poor, dumb saps who would later claim to have been just following orders.

Let's see, now that the scariest pumpkin in the patch is gone (Santorum), who else scares the hell out of me......is this suppose to be a short list or long list???

"votes with Bush 90% of the time" doesn't sound unusual for a Republican member of Congress. Without the "pretends to be a moderate" context, this just sounds bland.

I have to go along with Admiral N above. Mitch McConnell is capable of initiating evil. Smith just goes along with it. It takes a lot to get him to have initiative to do anything. But instead of thinking negatively about Smith, I prefer the positive thoughts associated with getting Steve Novick in the senate as Smith's replacement. Now that would be an improvement, much better than just thinking about getting rid of the rubbish.

What makes Smith so scary is that he tries to pretend he's a moderate. Take a look at what happened with the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. He continuously said that he was opposed to the drilling & even voted against earlier bills, but once it came to the final vote to drill, he changed his tune. If we knew all along that he was going to vote for the final passage we could have organized a huge movement to get him to vote against it. Smith serving another six years scares me, we need to unseat him!

I have to agree with sarahlane. I consider Smith to be particularly bad because he is a shape-shifter, who is (or has been in the past) able to convince all kinds of people that he is their kind of guy.

Don't give Smith all the blame for this. The dumb schmucks who are gullible enough to believe Smith are as much, or more, to blame.
