DPO State Central Committee Meeting

Paulie Brading

Day 3 of the Democratic County Chair/Vice-Chair retreat ends at nine am this frosty morning. DPO caucus meetings and committee meetings begin immediently after with the State Central Committee Meeting beginning at 1:00 PM. DPO delegates from all over the state are on their way to hear the report of the work accomplished, consideration of resolutions, discussion of the recent Ballot Measures, and to fine-tune the work ahead.

Over the past 2 days geographical regions within our state began to naturally merge. Nearby Dem county organizations recognized each other's strengths and areas where we could help each other plug leaky holes.

The break through insight moment for some in attendance was the realization that the Democratic Party is simply a medium for accomplishing change in our society. Those who hold their nose at the two party system may wish to revisit how and where certain organizations can help them accomplish some of the principles they long for in government. As a participant-observer in my first year of party politics it is refreshing to spend time with folks from all walks of life. I return home with hope and determination. Hats off to the participants who've slogged through 3 intense rewarding days together. TEN MONTHS until we take back our country, state and counties. Onward!

"...State Central Committee Meeting ..." "...to hear the report of the work accomplished..." "...I return home with hope and determination..." "...TEN MONTHS until we take back our country..." "...Onward!"

    This was a great post!

It brought back fond memories of days in the former Soviet block countries listening to the officials rail about the fight against the imperialist, bourgeois, totalitarian, capitalist pigs in America.

It can only be improved by adding a few "comrades" here and there, and finish up with a rousing rendition of "We Shall Overcome"

So I guess what Larry is saying is he wants some things to stay the same: endless unwarranted war for corporate profit, corporate and government corruption, sickness, poverty, inequality and the continuation of Presidential fat cat cronies screwing the working folks. I hope you will be deeply disappointed, Larry. You deserve nothing more.

    Larry,

Your comment is laughable, but I will respond because I see a growing number of people out their with the same attitude.

Many of the same comments you noted from Pauline, are almost identical to those made by many of the members who report ORP State Central Committee meetings. I can say this having been to numerous GOP state committee meetings, and the attitude is nearly identical. Both parties are in the business of partisanship, and they stay in business by proving the effectiveness by keeping membership unified and getting their ticket elected.

Clearly one party in this state is presently more effective at this than the other. And looking at the leadership of the ORP it is going to stay that way for a while.
