Democratic Super Tuesday Parties Across the State

Paulie Brading

Will Senator Obama turn the race upside down on February 5th? Will Senator Clinton's numbers hold up? Did Senator Obama's win in South Carolina signal a change in voting patterns across the country? There are at least 20 Super Tuesday parties planned in Oregon to find out the answers on February 5th, 2008. Go to www.oregondemocrats.org and click on events to find a Super Tuesday Party near you. It's going to be like a political Super Bowl when nearly half the country will vote in Primary Elections and it is possible that Democrats will know who our Presidential Candidate will be. The Jackson County Democrats are holding their party at the Red Lion Inn in Medford with an 'All You Can Eat' buffet, large screen TV coverage and wireless access for anyone who wants to bring laptops to follow the blogs. Our party will begin at 5pm to catch the east coast returns and continue past 9pm when the west coast, including California, votes. $40 per person. Reservations required. Call the Jackson County Headquarters at 541 858 1050. Or call your Democratic county orgaizations: Jackson, Marion/Polk, Wasco, Douglas, The DPO in Portland, Linn/Benton, Lane, Lake, Hood River, Deschutes, Curry, Baker, Wheeler/Gilliam, Umitilla, Union, Clatsop and Columbia are all throwing Super Tuesday Parties. Apoligies to any Democratic County organizations I may have overlooked.

Whom ever Democrats, moderate Republicans and non-affiliated voters support it will be more fun to spend Super Tueday together! Will we laugh or cry or discuss delegate counts? Don't sit home alone crying in your beer, go to a Super Tueday Party and find a shoulder to comfort you!

So what do you think? Did Senator Obamas win in South Carolina signal a change in voting patterns across the country?

My husband and I are sorry to miss seeing our friends at the Portland bash, as we are on vacation in Australia, but we have made arrangements to watch the Super Tuesday returns (lunchtime Wednesday) at a pub in Sydney with the New South Wales chapter of Democrats Abroad!

Yeah, the race is getting mighty interesting. I think Obama has to continue to reach out to young voters as he did in South Carolina. Hillary is still going to be tough to beat. One thing is for sure, the Super Tuesday contests are fun to follow.

As a native South Carolinian I wold defintely state that Obama's landslide victory in SC points to a serious change. The young, the Regan democrats and those tired of partisan politics for the sake of partisan politics are speaking out. They should be listened to carefully.

The DPO event in Portland is being held at the Tiffany Center, $50 admission, into which Multnomah Co. is folded, evidently.
