Where's the beef?

Jeff Golden

Picture 2 I made it to the Left Bank Thursday to watch Al Gore endorse Bill Bradbury.  "Endorse" barely covers it;  if you were to write the speech you'd want to hear from a national bigshot to launch your campaign, you could pretty much transcribe what Gore had to say about Bill, "an extraordinary man who will make an extraordinary governor."  (Disclosure:  I count Bill as longtime friend, and served as his Chief of Staff  when he presided over the Senate in 1993).

I went in part looking to hear about the transition to green jobs, because both of these guys have the brains and experience to drill deeper than pleasant platitudes, down to the bedrock of economic reality.  I didn't hear depth, and with hindsight understand why: this was a launching event to rev up core supporters, not a policy summit on the new economy.  And it served its purpose.

But it's time to put more meat on the bones of Green Jobs, and on the larger assertion that what's good for the environment is good for the economy.  There's a critical mass of people who want to believe that, but the combination of the scariness of change and propaganda from the fossil-fuel establishment has too many of them stuck.  In this week's column I'm suggesting that we're not doing much good as cheerleaders for abstract claims about economic conversion; let's push candidates to glean the best data from the Apollo Project and other sources, and turn on some voters not already in the choir.

Why would we want to vote for someone who fell hook-line and sinker for the biggest scientific fraud since Piltdown Mann (or maybe Eugenics)? In spite of ample evidence that it was a fraud, they refused to look at the evidence, instead preferring to blindly follow others - not something we want in a leader!

What feeble evidence there was for CO2 causing warming disappeared when they discovered that Al Gore's Antarctic ice core data showed CO2 lagging temperature. Several years ago! Gore & Bradley ignored this.

The only other spectacular piece of evidence that showed temperatures rapidly rising in recent times was shown to be a fraud several years ago, yet both of these clowns still use it. Even more years ago! Gore & Bradley ignored this.

Now the beginning of the end of this fraud has begun with the exposure of thousands of suppressed files from the "scientists" at the very foundation of the true believer's bible - the IPCC. Ultimately Gore & Bradley WILL be (justly) brought down by this.

The file contain plain evidence of ignoring FOI requests, requests to destroy emails that are subject of FOI requests and a promise of destroying data before turning it over to the requester. This is true Nixonian behavior.

Their emails describe how they fabricated the alarming temperature curve that Al Gore uses.

They advise to modify the data if it doesn't fit the warming theory.

They pressured editors to NOT publish papers skeptical of the warming case. They appear to have gotten one editor removed. Then the pointed out that skeptical papers were not being published!

They destroyed documents in response to FOI requests. (A crime.)

They participated in tax evasion/money laundering.

They show that these "pure as driven snow" scientists got money from SHELL and Esso (European Exxon)

But most of all these emails show that they went to great lengths to avoid others being able to verify their work which is at the center of science!

See: online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704888404574547730924988354.htm The actual files are in FOI2009.zip which is all over the internet.

Are there any apologies for the name calling and insults against the skeptics who have been warning that global warming was not a danger and probably a fraud for years?

Oh, come on, this is about Bradbury. Of course that would be off-topic, withe load of trolls you're carrying! What a vector for vermin. Between the knee-jerk Kitz supporters and the dittohead's reciting their lessons, he barely exists, on BO.

I read this post and initially thought, that's excellent. Well covered, what could one add, and said nothing. My second thought was, "uh-oh. topics like that get very few responses, and are assaulted, almost exclusively, by right wing trolls, dittoheads and link spammers". Sorry to see I was right again.

If you're going to let K arlock paste the same verbiage in on every post, then so will I. At least Paulie had the good sense to delete "Marie, billy, JK, and jaimieee"- all dust farting K arlock- over on the "Would You Read It" thread. He can cite Esso because they are more responsible than JK! If you want to find where just being corporate leaves off, and enviroterrorism starts, just introduce yourself to K arlock!

So, as I said, and will say everytime he does his little cut/copy/paste routine, Posted by: JJ Ferguson | Nov 23, 2009 11:33:54 PM

That's too grotesque to consider. Jim K arlock in drag. "Hi, I'm James A K arlock, your climate saviour , but instead of talking about the House race, tonight I'd like to introduce you to my other persona, 'Marie'". Funny. Never figured JK as GLBT. This is worth cross posting to Portland Transport Blog, that suffer like saints with his incessant cut/copy/paste.

Carshlock, I would take Peri Brown's good advice, back on the "Coal" thread. Figures when you had the floor , you "were too busy for blogging right now". What a jerk. You wouldn't even know this blog existed, except that Kari covered your senile ramblings, and now you spam him daily. Why abbreviate "JK"? Just say "JerKoff".

Why don't you use your real name? It's banned. That means, "shove off", not make up "jamieee" or "Marie" or "billy". Got problems with that? Email Kari. Otherwise why should we listen to a lying electronic trespasser? You've been asked to leave. Deal with that or get the f*ck out!

That's a real good point. How would you like to have envirorespnosibles picketing your house every day? You'd scream privacy and trespass. Ditto. You've been asked to leave. Appeal that, leave, or take the same medicine.

Attacking the messenger is so typically progressive, but it will not make the facts go away:

The fact is that the global warming scare is over – it was all a fraud.

    Its gone. Live with(out) it.

This will end up with congressional and parliamental hearings, and ultimately criminal prosecutions of some of the biggest names behind the IPCC.

I suggest you reformulate your positions to reduce the embarrassment to yourselves and organizations and, of course, give up using climate change as an excuse for taking over the world economy. The sooner you do it, the less embarrassment you will suffer.

Don’t believe me because it isn’t in the Oregonian, just Google: CRU hack, Generations Mutual fund, Kleiner Perkins, CAMCO GLOBA, and “A convenient £50m for green Gore”. Also Google’s board of directors, and Apple’s board of directors.

PS: Still waiting for the apologies.

I wouldn't give you the sweat off my left nut.

Hey, somebody do their job! Delete all this crap, every fucking non-response (which means everything).

Great topic + zero management = total waste.

If you're going to do no editing, this is no better than what's scrawled on the bathroom wall. Is that what you want?

"Hey, K arlock! Don't laugh at climate change, the joke is between your legs"! Happy now?

Green Jobs nowadays are quite needed. Actually any kind of JOB is must. Maybe if there is an issues I want to resolve nowadays, that is poverty and unemployment. It's really hard to support our daily finances if we don't have a job where our income comes then its really hard to live. Nothing comes for free! So let me ask you all again, is there still hope in our economy?

You have link spammers posting computer generated content that is more coherent than the posters (JK, Richard)?!? Class act! Guess these guys missed the memo on the "all clear". Fuck, man. I've read blogs run by trolls and I've never seen this much shit on one site!

You're full of shit, K arlock. It's evidence all right, of your continued manipulation for your own dust farting ends.

In his first full interview since last week's theft, which saw hundreds of emails and documents exchanged between some of the leading climatologists over the past 13 years stolen from the university's servers, Jones defended himself against accusations by climate sceptics that the emails provide evidence of collusion by climatologists to fix data.

"That the world is warming is based on a range of sources: not only temperature records but other indicators such as sea level rise, glacier retreat and less Arctic sea ice," he said. "Our global temperature series tallies with those of other, completely independent, groups of scientists working for Nasa and the National Climate Data Centre in the United States, among others. Even if you were to ignore our findings, theirs show the same results. The facts speak for themselves; there is no need for anyone to manipulate them."

Jones accepted, though, that the contents of some of the emails were cause for embarrassment: "Some of the emails probably had poorly chosen words and were sent in the heat of the moment, when I was frustrated. I do regret sending some of them. We've not deleted any emails or data here at CRU. I would never manipulate the data one bit - I would categorically deny that."

He confirmed that all of the leaked emails that had provoked heated debate – including the now infamous email from 1999 in which he discussed a "trick" to "hide the decline" in global temperatures - appeared to be genuine.

"The use of the term 'hiding the decline' was in an email written in haste," he said. "CRU has not sought to hide the decline." (The University of East Anglia has now posted a detailed explanation of why this phrase was used on its website)

Jones said the timing of the theft suggested it was intended to cause maximum embarrassment ahead of the Copenhagen climate talks next month: "One has to wonder if it is a coincidence that this email correspondence has been stolen and published at this time. This may be a concerted attempt to put a question mark over the science of climate change in the run-up to the Copenhagen talks."

But he stressed that he has never wished to get drawn into the political debate about climate change, saying: "I'm a very apolitical person, I don't want to get involved in the politics, I'm much happier doing the science and producing the papers. I'm a scientist, I let my science do the talking, along with all my scientific climate colleagues. It's up to governments to decide and climate science is just one thing they have to take into account with the decisions they have to make."

He added that he had long been under pressure from climate sceptics to further explain his research: "From about 2001/2002 I was getting emails from a number of people involved in the climate sceptic community. Initially at the beginning I did try to respond to them in the hope I might convince them but I soon realised it was a forlorn hope and broke off communication. Some of the emails I sent them subsequently appeared and were discussed on various sceptic websites."

Peri Brown | Nov 26, 2009 3:24:38 AM You're full of shit, K arlock. It's evidence all right, of your continued manipulation for your own dust farting ends. J: Again, thanks for the personal attacks, proving once again that you have no rational argument.

That you post the damage control PR from a criminal is a rather feeble attempt to fool people. Would you have done the same for Nixon during watergate?

Why don't you google climategate and educate yourself about current events. The scandal has spread worldwide and to mainstream press like the NYT & CBS. That the biased press you follow has ignored the story of the decade only reflects on your poor choice of information sources. (My sources have been pointing out the fraud for several years - of course I also looked deeper before I became convinced, something you should try sometime.)

Why are you having so much trouble believing that you have been had by a bunch of Wall Street hucksters and multinational corporations, just because they are led by Al Gore?

Oh, a quick note to Lord Beaverbrook who said: I wouldn't give you the sweat off my left nut. J: Are you sure you have one?

Again, my advise is to quickly acknowledge reality and change your political positions accordingly. I suggest a press release that climate control is no longer a consideration in any public policy because it is based on fraud, followed up by directives to staff at Metro, PDOT, Portland City Council, LCDC, etc.

Have fun in the new, real world.
