Free throw shooting contest?

Over at this Oregonian blog, Jeff Mapes makes a hilarious suggestion:

Here's the next thing I think the Blazers ought to do: host a half-time free throw shooting contest between Dudley and Kitzhaber for charity. It would be entertaining - and generate a lot more publicity than you could buy with the money the team gave the two candidates.

Given that Chris Dudley is the worst free-throw shooter in Blazers history, it might actually be a contest. Thoughts?

  • (Show?)

For the record, Rep. Jefferson Smith (D-East Portland) has publicly challenged Mr. Dudley to a game of 1-on-1 several times....

  • (Show?)

Rumor has it, Kitzhaber was last pick every year in PE. Not NBA material.

  • (Show?)

I like the way you think! How about a spelling bee? Or a math problem. No, wait. A civics question! Yea, that's right!

  • (Show?)

Probably Dudley would rather shoot free throws than engage in debate.

But, then again, the leader of the Democratic Party, the U.S. President, will not debate the president of Iran. Ahmadinejad has made the offer.

(Just keeping track of who wants to engage in constructive dialogue and who doesn't).

  • (Show?)

A great, democratically-elected President, Lula of Brazil, does not think it beneath him to try and find a non-confrontational way out of the Iranian-nuclear problem, by engaging in direct dialogue with Ahmadinejad.

Which is one of the reasons that Lula has been a great president and why Obama has been very mediocre.
