A short while ago, Suzanne Bonamici was sworn in as the newest member of Congress.

She gave a short address to the House. Via The Hill:

"There are too many families still struggling to make ends meet, and they want to know that their voices are heard in our deliberations," she said.

"Our economy and the nation's confidence are both in need of rebuilding. As we work together, let us remember that the unparalleled prosperity and creativity of this great nation over the last century can be traced to this promise: that if you work hard and play by the rules you can succeed in America."

The Daily Astorian reports on her first act:

As her first act, Bonamici co-sponsored H.R. 1418, the Small Business Lending Enhancement Act of 2011, to continue her work to get more capital into the hands of small business owners. The bill, introduced by Congressman Ed Royce, R-Calif., lifts the cap on the amount credit unions can lend to member small businesses.

The Oregonian's Charlie Pope notes that she's still awaiting committee assignments and has yet to hire a chief of staff.

Congratulations to Congresswomen Suzanne Bonamici, her family, and everyone who helped make it possible!
