Yesterday, on C-SPAN, Congressman Earl Blumenauer addressed the suggestion -- made here at BlueOregon -- that he might be President Obama's pick to succeed Ray LaHood as Secretary of Transportation:

Q: Would you take it?

You know, I like what I'm doing and I think I can be a better advocate for livable communities and for transportation doing the work I do in Congress and in other communities than being [in] even a good bureaucracy with a president I respect. I'd like to be kind of a free agent.

I'm not interested.
