As a citizen of Portland I am outraged by the lack of transparency and due process the Mayor and City Council have demonstrated in enacting the ordinance to fluoridate Portland’s water supply. As a dentist and scientist I am equally outraged by health and medical organizations that fail to be guided by current principals of “Evidence Based Medicine” as they choose to ignore the wealth of scientific evidence that demands that the old paradigm of public water fluoridation be abandoned. Oregon Citizens for Safe Drinking Water's referendum petition gives voters the right to vote on whether to add fluoridation chemicals to Portland’s drinking water. At this point, the only way the public will be allowed to decide for themselves whether or not they want to ingest fluoride in their drinking water for the rest of their lives is to sign this petition. If 30,000 signatures are collected within 30 days of the petition then the decision to fluoridate Portland’s water supply will be delayed until the public can vote on this issue. I urge registered voters in Portland to sign this petition. [email protected] (503) 893-8999 Clean Water Portland PAC 408 SE 6th Avenue Portland, OR 97214 Sincerely, Jay Harris Levy, DDS
