While TriMet's request may have merit, I am becoming increasingly disturbed by our governmental funding priorities. For me, given the rise of China and changes in the global economy, we must develop more Mandarin and study abroad programs in our educational system. We are not, so, until we are, I am leaning towards voting "no" on all other funding or revenue measures - including, so far, this TriMet proposal and the City of Portland's $72 million fire safety bond measure.
