A first: BlueOregon - live from the Democratic Convention!

blueoregon admin

This morning, the Democratic National Committee announced the blogs that will be officially credentialed at the Convention in Denver. One blog from each state was chosen. (Later, they'll release national blogger credentials, which may include more state-level bloggers.)

For Oregon, the DNC has credentialed BlueOregon.

We'll be sending Jeff Alworth as our official correspondent on the floor (though Kari Chisholm will also be in Denver, and will be doing some coverage as well...)

BlueOregon's coverage of the Convention will certainly hit the big national stories, but our primary goal will be to focus on the Oregon angle whenever possible. Jeff will be talking to Oregon delegates, covering Oregon-focused events, and giving our readers a look inside the Oregon delegation's experience and reactions.

From a statement by Howard Dean:

"Similar to the record-breaking voter turnout our Party has seen during the primary season, the demand for these coveted blogger positions is yet another indicator of the tremendous interest in this historic Convention," said Governor Dean. "The Internet has played a critical role in connecting Americans to elected officials and candidates seeking office. The DemConvention State Blogger Corps will continue to foster this dialogue - in all 50 of our states and our territories too - as we head towards this year's historic election and elect a Democrat to the White House."

The full list of blogs is here.

OK, for those people who know my wife - but don't know Colorado microbrew... Bear's reference is to the excellent beer from Wynkoop Brewing, produced by Denver's mayor and king of beers, John Hickenlooper.

And no, Carrie's no relation. They wouldn't even give her a free pint.

I'm pretty damned psyched--this should be a historic moment. I will try to make it interesting and informative. Which would, of course, exceed my usual effort, so I'll have to be on my best game.

And yeah, I'm definitely trying the beer. Colorado talks the talk, but we know Beervana walks the walk.

    Congratulations!

Could somebody explain to an encapsulated Tri-Stater (Iowa, Illinois, Missouri) what factors have Obama ahead in Oregon?

I'm more interested in issues than demographics but I'll take either.

    Thanks,

Don't think we know what the issues are specifically, but Oregon has a lot of young people and highly educatad whites. That's Barack's wheelhouse.

So glad for you! As a fellow Oregonian, I'm hoping I'll be able to introduce myself to you at the Convention -- if our blog (MOMocrats) gets in!

Either way, can't wait to hear your thoughts on the experience.

Man, Im wondering if Homeland Security is even gonna let this known Socialist on the danged plane.

UMRBlog, Iraq and the environment are the talking-point issues in Oregon. That's what we've been asked to focus on, and I assume it's because the Obama folks know what Oregonians are interested in.

    Debbie--good luck!

Pat--yeah, apparently pinko commies are no grave danger. I will try to do the thing justice. On the one hand, I want no drama, just Obama. On the other, I want to be witness to an exotic last-minute power play. But that second hand is my evil hand.
