Ask your friends: Will you be part of history?

Kari Chisholm FacebookTwitterWebsite

This is it. Today is the deadline for registering to vote.

Now, I'm quite confident that there's not a single BlueOregon reader that's eligible but not registered to vote.

But I'm also quite confident that all of us have a friend, a neighbor, a co-worker, a family member that hasn't quite gotten around to the paperwork.

It's always easy to put off until tomorrow those things that should be done today.

But not today.

Right now. Seriously, right now, email everyone you know. Talk to everyone at work. Call your family members. Post a note on Facebook.

Tell everyone you know, right now, that TODAY is the deadline to register to vote. Not tomorrow. Not next week. Today.

In just three weeks, we're going to elect a new president. And we're going to make history. The question for your friends is this: Will you help make history? Or will you stand on the sidelines and watch?

The voter registration form is here. The deadline is a postmark deadline, so you don't have to leave your home or office.

And if you haven't done it yet, use the new OregonVotes.org web application to check your own voter registration - and those of your family, friends, co-workers, and neighbors. (Be sure to put your last name in first. Common mistake.)

Mickey Mouse has already been registered to vote by ACORN. But you can probably still sign up Pluto, and Gumby.

    Sieg Heil.

This may be off topic here, but does anyone know that Canada is holding federal elections today (October 14th)? They have 5 federal parties to choose from and they are hoping to get a majority government for the Conservatives.

Believe it or not, they are asking the people in Canada today the same question of this post by Kari. Different philosophy (Canada has a parliament), same civic duty.

Support Jeff Merkley in 2 unscientific polls that can get him some great radio exposure

    Vote Here

    And vote here

Hey, check that out! On the KEX buzz poll, Merkley is leading Smith by 50-45. That's the home of Rush Limbaugh and Dr. Laura... where Mike Erickson beat Kurt Schrader 72-19.

Guess the conservatives really are unhappy with Smith.

Actually I think it's Adam's doing, Kari, when I went there, Jeff was way down, but when I voted for him the site wouldn't let me vote on any of the others. So I'm thinking they're getting some unwonted if not unwanted blue traffic.

Actually what I found most interesting at that point was that M57 was winning considerably, while M61 was about even & much lower. And that was when it seemed that the polls had been filled out way skewed to the R candidates.
