Another example of Oregon's Great Business Climate

Portland's community of open source developers helped attract Puppet Labs here from Tennessee last year. The company, whose software helps manage computer data centers, had three employees when it arrived. It now employs 17 at its Old Town headquarters.

Today, Puppet plans to announce that it's landed $5 million in venture capital, supplementing $2 million secured last year. The latest investment is led by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, a Silicon Valley firm that ranks among the nation's most prominent venture capitalists.
