Adopt-A-Minefield

Lynn Bradach is leading "TEAM MINESWEEPERS" in Travis' memory to the annual Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, D.C., on Sunday, October 31, 2004. She and Travis once planned to run this marathon together.

TravisbradnachnallJohn Bradach sent this letter to me. I've described the death of his nephew as one of the proverbial final straws for me regarding this election. He and Lynn have been tireless in their efforts to make a change and creating an awareness in our country about the wrong decisions taken and the price paid.

Dear Friends:

As many of you know, my twenty-one year old nephew Marine Corporal Travis Bradach-Nall was killed in an explosion, while assisting with landmine removal near Karbala, Iraq on July 2, 2003. As a memorial to Travis, his mother Lynn Bradach and the rest of our family have been supporting the works of Adopt-A-Minefield ("AAM").

The AAM web page is at www.landmines.org. This is the organization inspired by Princess Diana, which is now being championed most visibly by Heather McCartney. Even when a war ends, it leaves a legacy of pain and suffering in landmines and other unexploded ordnance, which maim and kill the local people, old and, particularly, young. AAM raises money to clear unexploded ordnance left by wars throughout the world. AAM is also involved in helping those injured obtain prosthetics and other assistance.

We have been told that AAM's administrative costs of are underwritten by a charitable foundation, so that 100 percent of donated funds actually go to unexploded ordnance cleanup or victim assistance. We think AAM is an excellent way to remember Travis' sacrifice.

My sister Lynn Bradach is leading "TEAM MINESWEEPERS" in Travis' memory to the annual Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, D.C., on Sunday, October 31, 2004. She and Travis once planned to run this marathon together. Team Minesweepers is a mix of family and friends, runners and walkers, all of whom are asking donations to AAM as part of the event. I will be walking the 26 mile course, God willing! Team Minesweepers participants are bearing their own travel, lodging and other expenses, so all donations received will be forwarded to AAM.

Please consider a donation to AAM, as part of your charitable giving this year. Donations should be by check payable to: "Adopt-A-Minefield". Please put a note on your check that it is "In Memory of Marine Corporal Travis Bradach-Nall". Mail the donation to: "Adopt-A-Minefield, c/o Bradach Law Offices, 700 NE Multnomah Street, Suite 900, Portland, OR 97232."

Thank you very much, for your continued kindness.

John F. Bradach, Sr.
