Oregon GOP blog

Dead ElephantJust discovered this blog purporting to be the Oregon Republican Party's blog/journal site.

I think my favorite thing is the screen name of one of their more prolific writers, "kinkybeaver". In her profile, she's pretty clear that it's "not meant to be vulgar!" Her tagline: I kill kittens and stomp on puppies. Whatever.

In any case, I'm glad to see there's a place for our Red Oregonian friends to hang out by the water cooler.

Of course, I can't verify whether or not it really is the Oregon GOP's blog - their official site, orgop.org has been down for at least the last 30 minutes.

With the very atrocious background image of the GOP-Oregon makes scrolling and reading this site more nauseating than listening to LARS.

    Neo-cons don't blog. They blogma.

Never needs updating -- it was good enough for Century MCCC feudalists, and it's good enough forever.

(Btw, we figured out what the 'neo-' stands for: nine eleven op.)

No one over there seems to have figured out how to link to verifiable sources for some of their claims... I only scanned the Rossi was robbed thread, but the conspiracy theorists are out in full force.

Funny. Sad. A bit scary they have evolved into blogging amongst themselves.

    Arrgghh.. My eyes...

    That background has gotta go..

A cursory look at RedOregon would suggest that the community there is probably fairly young, and that this is new territory for the Oregon GOP.

The design there is an obstacle to the content. The posts cite minimal research, as befits the simple points of view, and, well, the topics and presentations aren't very well selected, and even if some are, they're not presented well.

But it would be a mistake to not keep an eye on how they're doing from time to time, at least until they move on to another blog. And I can still see some evolution on this blog from right-wing blogs past.

First, this (OR GOP) blog allows comments, and for a right-wing blog, that's not as common as it is on progressive blogs.

Secondly, their state party has a blog - ours doesn't (yet), despite the efforts of the State Party Blog Project.

So, yeah, it's butt ugly, and yeah, the topics look like OregonLive Town Square on a bad day, and yeah, the interns are probably running the show. But they can change and evolve just like we can, and we ignore them at our peril.
