Telling the truth about Gordon Smith's position on a woman's right to choose
Kari Chisholm

According to the most recent SurveyUSA poll, Gordon Smith is supported by 25% of pro-choice Oregon voters. That's because he's managed to confuse and confound them. But make no mistake, Gordon Smith is 100% pro-life -- as he plainly admits in this shocking video from Oregon Right to Life. (Interestingly, not available online from ORTL -- this was YouTube'd by NARAL Pro-Choice Oregon.)

Remember: When Oregon Right to Life's Gayle Atteberry was asked about Gordon Smith's election-season weaseling -- including pretending to be BFF's with Barack Obama, she said this to the AP:

Atteberry, who heads Oregon Right to Life, the state's most influential anti-abortion group, has also seen the numbers. And while she said she was extremely disappointed by Smith's admiring reference to Obama in his ad — Obama, she said, is the most "pro-abortion radical in the Senate" — she said she's sticking with Smith.

"We know it is posturing," she said. "But I know his heart, where he stands on our issue, and I am confident that he will always remain true to that cause. For that reason, in spite of some of these other things, I am going to keep on keeping on with him."

Make sure that every pro-choice voter you know understands this much: Gordon Smith wants to take away your right to choose, and he's endorsed by an organization that wants to make abortion illegal, even forcing rape victims to give birth to children they didn't want.

Meanwhile, Jeff Merkley has made standing up for the right-to-choose a central part of his campaign -- from the very first ad to the most recent ones:

When idiots like Elizabeth Furse endorse Smith, it confuses people. Smith would like to paper over his position on criminalizing abortion, but it shouldn't be allowed to pass.

I normally go out of my way not to pimp my blog on other blogs because it has always struck me as unseemly and a bit desperate. But I'll make an exception here for a post I wrote back in February which goes to the very heart of Gordo's anti-choice record.

I can't imagine any self-identified "choice" voter viewing Smith as a viable... er.... choice if they knew his real record.

Thanks Kevin, I have a dial-up connection (I live in some weird geographical hole for DSL and fiber optics, and don't want to deal with Comcast) and thus can't tell the content of long videos when they're provided without any gloss, so I'm glad to have something to read.

I will also do a little self-pimping and link y'all over to our other ad on Gordon Smith and his stance on abortion...

My internal filter bars any communication non-responsive to the moderator's question. Thus I saw those glossy lips move, and watched those Betty Boop eyes wink, but heard nothing come out? To come away gushing over Palin is self delusional.
