Merkley, others weigh in on JPMorgan's $2B blunder

Shares of JPMorgan Chase & Co. plummeted Friday after the bank held an emergency conference call late Thursday to disclose a $2 billion trading loss.

While JPMorgan shares (NYSE: JPM) were down nearly 9 percent in afternoon trading, experts don't expect a huge impact on Oregon's banks. The shares of Oregon's two largest banks — Portland-based Umpqua Holdings Corp. (NASDAQ: UMPQ) and Portland-based West Coast Bancorp (NASDAQ: WCBO) — were flat in midday trading.
