Jefferson Smith returns $25,000 check, takes three $5,000 checks
Portland mayoral candidate Jefferson Smith recently returned a $25,000 contribution from Jonathan Soros, the son of billionaire investor and philanthropist George Soros and a classmate of Smith's at Harvard Law School.
Wednesday, Smith announced new campaign contribution limits, including a $1,000 cap on donations going forward. Smith is running against Charlie Hales, who announced his own set of limits in June, including a $600 cap on contributions.
