Gordon Smith: Big 'ifs" surround Congress, sequestration

A former Oregon U.S. Senator told business leaders Tuesday he’s concerned that ideological chasms will affect Congress’ ability to address spending issues come 2013.

Gordon Smith, who’s now president and CEO of the Washington, D.C.-based National Association of Broadcasters, said if the government can’t correct its own problems, the market will, most likely in a doomsday economic scenario. Smith made his remarks during Tuesday’s Portland Business Journal Power Breakfast.
