Smith's fundraising drops over last two-plus weeks
Since media reports emerged Oct. 1 about an alleged 1993 incident between Portland mayoral candidate Jefferson Smith and a fellow University of Oregon student, Smith’s daily fundraising average has dropped by nearly 43 percent.
Smith had averaged $3,071 in contributions per day between Sept. 24 and Sept. 30. In the ensuing 17 days — or the point to which Oregon’s elections website has been updated — he’s averaging just $1,772 daily.
