Portland mayor urges federal and state ban on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines

On the one-month anniversary of the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School, Hales has scheduled a news conference Monday morning to call on Congress to ban military-style assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, require criminal background checks for all gun sales and make gun trafficking a federal crime.
