Q+A: Sen. Jeff Merkley on banking, the economy and Beltway bickering

Oregon’s junior U.S. Sen. Jeff Merkley’s 2013-14 calendar is filling up quickly.

In the past two weeks, Merkley has announced he’s lined up several committee assignments. As part of his work with the Banking Committee, he’ll chair that body’s subcommittee on economic policy. He will also chair a new committee on Green Jobs, as well as serve on several Appropriations Committee subcommittees.
