PORTLAND, Ore. -- Lawmakers have voted down a proposal to redesign the Oregon state flag. KOIN interviewed flag designer Matt Norquist in February. Norquist had been trying to change Oregon's flag to help distinguish it from dozens of other state's blue-background-and-state-seal flags.     * See his proposed designHowever, his design didn't wow Oregon lawmakers. "[T]he idea hasn't found much support in the building," said State Senator Laurie Monnes Anderson, who represents Gresham, Fairview, Troutdale and Wood Village at the Salem capital building. "Many legislators love Oregon's unique double-sided flag."Anderson said she introduced the flag bill "on behalf of a constituent who approached me about the idea.""While I am happy to introduced legislation on behalf of the people in District 25," Anderson said in her prepared statement after the bill had been voted down, she said her "main priorities" aren't about changing the flag. And that's the general consensus by those who took KOIN's February poll on the subject. On Feb. 9 KOIN posed the question "Should Oregon change its state flag?"
