(AP) — Oregon's lawmakers are getting briefed Thursday on an extensive report on the potential damage from a monster earthquake and tsunami off the Pacific coast. The report predicts unprecedented devastation when the big one hits.About 150 experts worked on the report, which was written at the request of the Legislature.Their task was to study what would happen if the Cascadia Subduction Zone off the coast of the Pacific Northwest produced a magnitude 9.0 quake and tsunami. They found that a quake that large and its resulting tsunami could kill as many as 10,000 people — half of them on the coast and half of them inland.According to the report, it could take the state months to recover.Copyright 2013 The Associated Press.
