Kitzhaber tax documents show mortgage interest payments

John Kitzhaber’s campaign released new tax documents Tuesday showing that the Democratic for governor paid more than $68,000 in interest over five years on the controversial mortgage loan he got from Bidwell & Co. in 1999. Kitzhaber's IRS 1098 statements show that he paid $22,950 in interest in 2001, $17,340.54 in 2002, $13,268 in 2003 and $14,733.37 in 2004. As far as the Kitzhaber campaign is concerned, the documents put an end to the contention that Bidwell & Co. provided the then-governor with a sweetheart mortgage loan.
