Wyden comes out swinging on 'coercive' Internet sales tax plan
"Talk about taxation without representation." U.S. Senator Ron Wyden isn't mincing words when it comes to his opposition to a proposed Internet sales tax making its way through the Senate.
The Marketplace Fairness Act would allow states to collect taxes on purchases made by residents from online businesses based in other states. That means online retailers would be required to collect a sales tax at the time of the transaction and send the money to the buyer's state of residence.
